ASVN Changes it's name to ANZA Technology Network
The
Australia Silicon Valley Network (ASVN) has changed it's name
to Australia, New Zealand, America Technology Network (ANZA Tech.
Net.). This change is a result of the New Zealand Government through
Trade NZ joining as a Founding Sponsor. The name reflects the
regional nature of the organization and the new focus on both
Australian and New Zealand technology companies connecting with the
US technology sector. Australian and New Zealand companies face the
same issues as they consider migrating to the US. Gaining awareness
and tapping into an established network are just a few of the
challenges the ANZA Tech. Net. is attempting to help it's members
with. The new web site can be found at www.anzatechnet.com.
If you are an Australian
or New Zealand company planning a visit to Comdex in November 2001
you may want to consider an additional day in Silicon Valley. The
ANZA Technology Network is planning an all day event for technology
companies to Showcase their technology. The day will culminate in an
evening cocktail party during which the companies will have an
opportunity to deliver a 'three minute elevator pitch' in front
of interested Silicon Valley executives. This will be a
great opportunity to gain valuable exposure to VC's, Investment
Bankers, Angels, Attorneys, Consultants, Strategic Partners,
potential clients and fellow technology executives operating in
Silicon Valley. Details will be released in the next few weeks. For
more information contact David Cannington at david@anzatechnet.com.
Our current webmaster
Sean Cooney, is heading back to Australia to re-commence his career
as a Financial Analyst. We thank Sean for all his hard work in
establishing the ASVN and ANZA Tech Net websites. We have a good
looking site with the architecture in place and software running
like a charm. We are now looking for a talented web developer or web
development company who can help maintain the site and take it to
the next level by integrating a backend data base. Please contact david@anzatechnet.com
if you are interested. Maintaining the site would require a time
commitment of a few hours a week on average.

You
are cordially invited to join us at the next ASVC "Gong
Show." Inspired by
the hilarious 70's show, ASVC partners with other venture
groups to select 15 companies out of a large pool of summated
technology business plans (up to 500).
The selected companies make a two-minute elevator pitch
to a panel of five prominent venture capitalists and angel
investors, who are all ASVC Charter Members.
The panellists choose four companies to make a full
ten-minute presentation to the audience.
Subsequent to the event, ASVC hosts an exclusive
follow-up meeting, attended by the four selected
companies and potential investors.
