Gateway to the US 2007 Registration Now Open

Gateway to the US 2007
Silicon Valley, USA Summit
October 22 – 24

Register now!

The buzz in Silicon Valley—and beyond—has never been sounder than it is right now for a first look at innovative Australian and New Zealand companies. Having just spent the last 2 months Down Under and having my first look at so many exciting companies, it gives me great pleasure to open our premiere program, the Gateway to the US for registration. In the high-tech business, timing is everything—and this year the timing couldn’t be better to come and see all the US has to offer Australian and New Zealand companies in the world’s largest market.

If you’re a startup or seeking to expand your current customer base, if you’ve taken part in our 2007 FocUS Marketing Workshops, past Gateways or boot camps, or have heard positive feedback about the 200+ other Australian and New Zealand companies who have participated in our program, I urge you to register now for the Gateway to the US. The Summit will be held in Silicon Valley from October 22-24, which is just 6 weeks away. Maximizing your mentor and preparation time is a vital part of the Gateway, so if you haven’t registered yet, click here.

In the coming weeks, I plan on refining the most comprehensive and value-for-money Gateway to the US program ANZA has offered to date. I will be finalizing panels and events that best meet your needs. And, I will be practicing what the ANZA Technology Network is all about—connecting with other well-placed and respected individuals and asking them to lend their support and tap into their networks to bring together an elite audience of top tech execs, entrepreneurs and investors to take their first look at the innovation coming up from Down Under. The buzz in the Valley—and beyond—is about to get louder…

Fast Track to the US

» Companies In Third Melbourne Intake Round Show Unprecedented Level Of “Breadth And Depth”

PricewaterhouseCoopers, Melbourne again generously served as host to ANZA during the first 2 weeks of August when 30 Victorian companies presented for slots in ANZA’s accelerated path to US market success, the Fast Track to the US. ANZA CEO Viki Forrest and operations manager Anna Moisio were joined by a highly regarded and ever-enthusiastic mentor team of Sheryle Bolton, Tom Cervantez, David Hutton and Jarmal Richard.

“The companies ANZA saw in this round of the Fast Track had enormous breadth and depth,” said PwC partner Sue Bannatyne. “It’s encouraging that this level of companies apply to the Fast Track, as this is what the Fast Track is all about—broadening and deepening your business.”

Presenting companies delivered 20-minute pitches to the ANZA mentor panel, who then provided an intensive round of feedback to determine each participant’s level of readiness and determination to succeed in expanding their business base in the US over the next 15 months.

“It was an incredible range of really strong companies, everything from rotary heat exchanges to mobile solutions,” said mentor Tom Cervantez of the law firm Davis Wright Tremaine. “It was a great opportunity to see companies outside of what we typically see in Silicon Valley, and I think many of them have the potential to be angel funded or go into a joint venture in the US.”

» ANZA Announces Fast Track Pilot Program in South Australia

ANZA is pleased to announce that the South Australian government has agreed to fund a pilot Fast Track program similar to the successful Victorian model. Currently, four companies selected by the ANZA evaluation team are being matched with mentors for the comprehensive 15-month program which provides companies with a clear path to US export success while reducing costs and risks. If you’re a South Australian innovative company and would like more information about participating in the Fast Track, please contact viki@anzatechnet.com.

» Fast Track Opportunities Available for all Australian and New Zealand Companies

While the state governments of Victoria and South Australia provide support for local companies to participate in ANZA’s Fast Track to the US program, any Australian or New Zealand company wishing to take part in the 15-month mentor program can do so. If you’re looking to secure funding, find partners and/or gain a foothold in the US marketplace at an accelerated pace, the Fast Track to the US program will work with you to accomplish these goals. The Fast Track to the US follows this principle: Navigate the challenging US business terrain at a top—yet safe—speed in line with your strategic objectives. FocUS Marketing Workshops

» 50 Companies Attend All-Day Workshops to Prep for US Market Entry

ANZA’s one-day FocUS Marketing Workshops held in major Australian and New Zealand cities last month gave the ANZA team the opportunity to work with and assess 50 innovative companies. ANZA conducted 7 workshops in 10 days, fronted by global marketing analyst Chris Shipley and renowned business coach Dan Sapp. The variety of companies—and their innovation to date—was simply amazing. And, we don’t know how she found time to blog it, but you can take Chris Shipley’s tour of Australia’s technology regions and some of its participating FocUS Marketing Workshop companies by clicking here.

Chris isn’t the only one blogging about the FocUS Marketing Workshops, though. A participating New Zealand company took the time to post their to-do list regarding their US market entry plans immediately following their day at the Auckland workshop. Each step is essential in any company’s US go-to-market plan, but we think Step 4 is the gem!

  1. Practice developing and pitching using this new framework
  2. Save up some money for the trip
  3. Get a list of people to see in the Valley
  4. Get my a_r_s_e over there

ANZA’s Gateway to the US program registration is now open. Come to Silicon Valley, USA, October 22-24 and immerse yourself in three days of nonstop opportunities for company presentation, business development, partnership, funding and tips and strategies for doing business in the US. If you did not attend the FocUS Marketing Workshops and are interested in attending the Gateway Summit, contact viki@anzatechnet.com.
