ANZA Gateway to the US ’07 Summit Highlights
“Don’t do drive bys. People come here for 3 weeks, meet everybody and then go back home to Australia or New Zealand and it’s ‘out of sight, out of mind.’ I say come over here, pitch a tent and show people you’re serious and you’re here to do business.” – John Scull, Managing Director, Southern Cross Venture Partners and Funding Your Business in the US business forum panelist.

Adelaide-based Digislide has received $1.9 million Commercial-Ready government grant for their Digismart hand-held, stand-alone or embedded projection technologies. Digislide won the Guy Manson Award at Gateway 2005, which earned the company a slot at the invite-only DEMO conference the following year. Digislide is now participating in the ANZA Fast Track program.
Gateway participant and 2004 Guy Manson Award winner In the Chair has just announced the release of their new product, StarPlay. The release is part of a multi-million dollar, worldwide distribution deal with Sibelius, a division of the $2Billion NASDAQ-listed digital media giant Avid. StarPlay incorporates the Sibelius file format, the world's most widely used format for distributing sheet music digitally, and lets music students learn by virtually performing with professional musicians, bands and orchestras.
New Zealand-based Derceto, whose software saves energy and water by optimizing the pumping and sourcing of water and waste water, was chosen by California-based AlwaysOn as one of the GoingGreen 100 Top Private Companies for 2007. Derceto took part in the 2004 ANZA Gateway to the US program.
Fast Track participant Exinda Networks has retained its R&D offices in Melbourne while relocating its headquarters to Boston. In a move to further advance its global efforts, the company has just been awarded a contract to provide its WAN optimisation appliances to the Malaysian Government. The $A1.25 million deal involves the supply of appliances to more than 700 networked sites over two years as part of the Government Integrated Telecom Network (GITN).
Gateway ’06 participant Rising Sun Research, creators of cineSync, a Guy Manson Award-winning technology, has added a few more awards in 2007. In September they were named Australian Anthill’s Coolest Company and won Anthill’s X-Factor award as well. Earlier in the year, they placed third in the IT Secrets competition. The company has launched a major product update (cineSpace 2.5) and continues to work on some bleeding edge 3D stereoscopic technology. Writes CEO Clint Walker, “So it's all happening, plenty of interest around the business, several American partners talking about more 'intimate' relationships and riding the market swell of our industry. And so much of our success had its genesis around the Gateway to the US '06.”
