For the second year running ANZA Technology Network Alumni companies have made a big splash at the invite only DEMO (http://www.demo.com/) showcase conference in Scottsdale, Arizona. DEMO is the leading industry conference renowned for being a launching pad for new technologies in the US market.
As a result of showcasing at the ANZA Tech. Conference in October last year, four companies where invited to showcase at DEMO. The companies who showcased at DEMO were QR Sciences from Perth, DPM from Canberra, Digital Monkey from Adelaide and Signav from Sydney.
These ANZA Tech Alumni companies competed with 71 other companies for a share of attention at the fast paced, highly produced conference. The great news is that they made a huge splash.
DPM was one of the ‘DemoGod’ winners, a coveted award at the conference which brings with it significant prestige and recognition. Foursticks from Adelaide won the award in 2004 making it two in a row for ANZA Tech Alumni companies.
QR Sciences attracted much attention around its T3-QCP Explosive Detection System, a baggage-screening system designed to detect plastic explosives and other hard-to-identify hazards. Digital Monkey received attention around its innovative music technology which its CEO David Evans describes as “a flight simulator for musicians."
As a result of this attention the companies received significant press and contacts. QR Sciences and Digital Monkey were highlighted in the USA Today, Wall Street Journal San Jose Mercury News and the San Francisco Chronicle amongst other leading media publications in the US. They were also covered on CNN and Fox in the US.
As David Evans said about his ANZA Tech. and DEMO experience “ANZA Tech was a great experience which prepared us well to make a big impact at DEMO. The whole journey has been invaluable for Digital Monkey.”
ANZA Technology Network is already in negotiations with DEMO about partnering again this year to ensure that the hottest companies at ANZA Tech are invited to DEMO in 2006.
